Sustainability

Hawthorne World is dedicated to environmentally sustainable development, aiming to enhance construction quality and operational efficiency in the short term while minimizing long-term environmental impact.

Engaging in various green rating systems, we have established our Gold-Rated Sustainable program, achieving noteworthy records, including the upcoming MERU Campus of Care opening in 2024. Nestled in the picturesque Blue Ridge mountains on 14 acres, MERU Campus will be the largest Net Zero project in Virginia and the largest Net Zero assisted living project in the U.S. Notably, the four-building project will adhere to the National Green Building Standards (NGBS) gold rating.

Hawthorne World Gold Rated Sustainable.
Additionally, our ECO TERRA™ upscale eco-community, set for completion in 2024, represents the largest Passive House multifamily project in the U.S., achieving Net Zero through a solar and battery system. ECO TERRA™ will meet NGBS Gold/Silver standards, Passive House Certification, and hold the Hawthorne World Gold Rated Sustainable status.
